The Inter-University Task Week started at Saltby airfield a long long time ago, in 1979. It was first organised by Nottingham and Edinburgh University at Nottingham’s home site at the time, Saltby Airfield, they now fly from RAF Cranwell. Saltby Airfield is a former RAF station in Leicestershire and is the home to Buckminster Gliding Club and Loughborough Students’ Union Gliding Club.
